State achievement tests tell us how well our students are growing in the knowledge and skills outlined in Ohio’s Learning Standards. These tests help guide and strengthen future teaching so we can be sure that we are preparing our students for long-term success in school, college, careers and life. Test results also allow citizens to know how their local schools are performing compared to others around the state.
State tests are the Ohio AIR Assessments for grades 3 – 8. Each student will take a reading and math assessment. Students in grades 4 and 6 will also take a social studies assessment and 5th grade students will take a science assessment.
This year will be the first time our students will complete the assessments on-line. The testing periods will begin around 9:30 and last for 90 minutes. The schedule with specific dates and times for each test is listed below. Parents are reminded about the importance of students having enough rest and eating a good breakfast on test days. Students should be going to bed a little earlier during the testing week being sure to get plenty of rest. We will provide a small snack and a bottle of water for each student during the testing period.
