1. February Chess Tournaments for Middle (grades 5 - 8) and High School students (grades 9 - 12) will be on Saturday, February 4th from 9am - 4pm at the Huron Public Library. Entry fee of $1 covers food, drink and awards. Registration required by January 28.

2. Parent Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday, February 21st from 5:00-8:00.

3. Huron City Schools will be hosting their annual College Credit Plus Informational Meeting for all Huron students (currently in grades 6-11) and parents who are interested in learning more about the College Credit Plus Program through Huron City Schools on February 8th at 7:00pm in the McCormick Jr. High Auditorium.

4. Congratulations to the entire Power of the Pen writing team. They represented Huron City Schools well at the tournament on Saturday where 18 schools and nearly 300 student writers competed. McCormick's own Lauren Walls placed 8th and Nate Witte placed 12th in the 7th grade competition, and will definitely move on to the Regional Tournament Round, and three more writers have a strong chance of also moving ahead once the scores are worked through at the state level.
