HURON HIGH SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016

1.  Today TLC will be hosting a Spring Break egg hunt.  Eggs will be hidden around the school containing various items like candy, homework and extra credit passes, and passes that will allow you to eat lunch first.  One egg will contain a student activity pass that will get you into 10 sports events for the 2016-2017 school year but the activity pass cannot be redeemed by a current senior.  If you find an egg with a pass that you cannot use, give it to someone you know that will be able to use it.  Turn in any pass to TLC at lunch to be verified.  Passes will only be verified on the day of the egg hunt!

New scholarship available in the Guidance Department:

SANUSKY EXCHANGE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP –Scholarships available to graduating seniors planning to attend Firelands Campus BGSU full-time in the fall.  Applicants with an average cumulative GPA of 3.0, who exhibit leadership, high standards of personal control and responsibility, and demonstrated community service will be considered.  Stop into the Guidance office for applications.  DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MAY 11, 2016.

3.  Today we will be holding a fund raising Ice Cream Social at lunch time to support HHS and EHOVE student Maddie Hemingway.  Maddie is battling cancer and her family has incurred many expenses related to her treatment and the travel associated with numerous trips to the Clinic.  

Anyone who would like to help may make a donation at any of the lunch periods on the 24th and in turn they will be given an ice cream sundae.  Please consider helping Maddie and her family on March 24th.

4.  The deadline to turn in two important items is April 1st, however, we will be on Spring break at that time so you must have these in by the end of the today to meet the deadline. 

College Credit Plus intent to participate forms - last year they were accepted late - there is NO late deadline allowance this year!

Credit Flex programs - If you are planning on participating, you must have your completed plan turned in to Mr Matheny by April 1st.  There is no late deadline for Credit Flex programs. 

If you complete either item after we leave for Spring break on March 24th, they must be mailed and postmarked no later than April 1 to be accepted.

5.  Steve Arndt, a State Representative for Ohio's 89th District, has sent congratulatory letters to those students who were on the Honor Roll for the 2nd quarter.  If you would like your letter, please stop by the high school office to pick that up.

6.  Cinderella's Closet is now taking appointments for their 6th annual prom dress shopping boutique day!  Are you planning on attending prom but the cost is holding you back?  Cinderella's Closet will assist young ladies with prom dresses and accessories at NO COST for those that do not have the financial means.  Please make your appointment today to reserve your date and time to shop.  See the flyers located outside the high school or guidance office for more information.

7.  Academic letter applications are now available in the high school office.  You must be a sophomore, junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 to apply.  The deadline to apply is
today (deadline changed due to Spring Break).  Please return forms to the high school office.

8.  Lunch today is macaroni & cheese or a toasted Italian sub.
