HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

1. Congratulations to Max Martin and Riki Tanaka who advanced to Districts next Thursday for boys golf.

2.  Tonight there will be a spaghetti dinner in the high school cafeteria from 4:30-7pm prior to the Huron vs Vermilion homecoming football game.  Adults are $5 and $3 for children under 10.  Proceeds support the Citizens for Huron Schools.

3. 
If you want to vote and you will be 18 by the November 8th General Election, you must register 30 days in advance.  Pick up a registration form in room 206 and return it to Mrs. Merckens by Friday, October 7.

4.  Attention Students interested in pursuing a career in nursing:   Lorain County Community College and Firelands College are joined in a partnership that brings an associate's degree (RN) Nursing Program with all courses being offered at BGSU Firelands College.  Stop into the Guidance Office for more information on this convenient and cost saving opportunity!

5.  Attention all students who take plan on taking a College Credit Plus course online or at Firelands this Spring: You must sign up for a 15 minute time slot in Guidance to meet with Sophia Jackson or Amy Planthaber.  Once you have your meeting and credit check, a hold will be removed from your account.  Seniors will meet on with Mrs. Fahr and BG advisors on Friday 10/28 and Juniors and underclassman will meet on Monday 10/31


6Homecoming tickets are now on sale in the cafeteria during lunch time.  Tickets are $10 each.  The dance is this Saturday, from 8-10pm, at Woodlands School.  No tickets will be sold at the door.

7.  Attention senior class:  Today during 3rd period, you will be heading out to the football field for your class photo shoot. Please wear school colors!

8.  Presale tickets for tonight's home football game vs Vermilion are on sale in the high school office.  Presale tickets are $5.  All tickets at the gate will be $6.

9.   HHS spirit week feel the heat hat & glove drive to benefit kids in need.  Competition between grades. Winning class gets a prize!!  Please drop off your donations.

The Huron Tiger Football program is encouraging students to help raise awareness and money for The American Cancer Society with a "Crucial Catch" event on Friday, October 14th.  We would like to have a "Pink Out" at school and at the football game on Friday the 14th.  Forms for the purchase of the t-shirts are in the office.  The sale runs today through Tuesday, October, 4th.  Forms and money can be turned into Mr. Lamb.

Attention Students:  The Huron Parks Department are looking for 20 volunteers for the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 8th.  Volunteers are needed to assist young children with games and pumpkin painting.  Please stop into the Guidance office for more information and volunteer forms.


12.  DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN OF OHIO  Several scholarship awards available to young women graduating in the fall of 2017.  Interested students will be evaluated by their school and/or community involvement, by academic, athletic, or the arts success, and proven leadership qualities.  Please stop into the Guidance office for more information and by visiting www.DistinguishedYW.org DEADLINE TO APPLY IS OCTOBER 21, 2016.

October 5th. -  8:30 a.m. Ohio Northern University
October 6th. -  8:30 a.m. Air National Guard
October 6th. -  1:00 p.m. University of Toledo
