HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7,  2016

1.  Attention students interested in taking the PSAT on Oct. 19th.  The deadline to pay and register is this Monday, Oct. 10th. Please bring your check and sign up with Mrs. Smith in the Counseling Office.

2.  There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in swimming or diving this year on Tuesday, October 11th at 7:00 pm in the Student Union. Students are encouraged to bring their parents with them for the 30 minute meeting.

3.  Presale tickets for tonight's football game at Port Clinton are on sale in the high school office.  Presale are $5.   All tickets at the gate will be $6.

Attention Students:  The Huron Parks Department are still in need of volunteers for the Pumpkin Festival this Saturday, October 8th.  Volunteers are needed to assist young children with games and pumpkin painting.  Please stop into the Guidance office for more information and volunteer forms.
5.   Seniors - Jostens will be at Huron High School today during lunch periods in the cafeteria.  Please bring your graduation orders to Jostens at this time. 

6.  Picture retake day for underclassmen (grades 9-11) through Ripcho is scheduled for Monday, October 17 @ 7:30am.  If you were not happy with your photo taken earlier in the school year, please be sure and bring that packet with you on October 17.  Extra packets are located in the high school office for those who missed pictures altogether.

7.  Today is the last day if you want to register to vote in the November 8th General Election. You must be 18 by the November 8th general election.  Pick up a registration form in room 206 and return it to Mrs. Merckens. 

8.  Congratulations to Max Martin and Riki Tanaka for representing Huron Boys Golf at the Districts yesterday.  Congratulations to all of the boys golf team for winning SBC golf and a great season!

9.  It's Teen Read Week at the Huron Public Library starting Sunday, October 9 through Saturday, October 15. Teens in grades 7 - 12 who check something out receive an entry form for our prize basket. Enter additional fun contests on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for more chances to win! The prize basket includes candy, a dvd, an autographed copy of If I Stay by Gayle Forman, gift certificates and more! Come to the library or visit our website for more details.

  Seniors:  The "Elks Student of the Month" applications are available in the Guidance office.  If selected as a student of the month, you will not only be entered into the local scholarship competition but also have your bio in the Sandusky Register and be invited to a scholarship dinner in May.  There are numerous scholarship opportunities available so don't hesitate to apply! Applications are due by Monday, October 31st.

11.  Attention all students who take plan on taking a College Credit Plus course online or at Firelands this Spring: You must sign up for a 15 minute time slot in Guidance to meet with Sophia Jackson or Amy Planthaber.  Once you have your meeting and credit check, a hold will be removed from your account.  Seniors will meet on with Mrs. Fahr and BG advisors on Friday 10/28 and Juniors and underclassman will meet on Monday 10/31

12.  College reps who will be in the Student Union the week of October 10th, 2016:
October 11th. - 2:00 p.m. Case Western University
October 12th. - 9:15 a.m. Otterbein University
October 12th - 12:45pm Air National Guard
October 13th. - 1:00 p.m. Bluffton University
Students are reminded to sign up in advance in the Guidance office.
