HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7,  2016

1.  Congratulations to both Nathan Pack and Grace Moser for their performance in the state cross country meet on Saturday. Nathan ran a personal best time of 16:29 to finish 37th in the state.  He also made it onto the record board with the 5th fastest junior time in Huron history. Grace finished her first appearance at the state meet in 91st place! 

2. 
We'd like to congratulate the following football players for receiving All-SBC this season:

For 2nd Team All-SBC Offense, Lucas Critelli, Chris Davis, and Philip Jones.

For 2nd Team All-SBC Defense, Jake Ortman, Brandon Dowell, and Chris Davis.

Eric Martin was named 2nd Team Kicker.

Honorable Mention awards go to Jake Holsapple, Cesco Gioffre, Conor Fortune, Jared Hohler, and Nathaniel Wallace.  Congratulations guys!

3.  Locker decorations will be taken down Friday after school by the custodians.  If you want to keep yours please take it down by Friday.

4.  Freshmen basketball practice will be from 7-9 at the high school tonight.

5.  Bowling tryouts will be held today from 3-5pm at Riverview Lanes.

6. 
Today the Huron Boys Golf team will be having a fundraiser at Chipotle between the hours of 5pm and 9pm.  Tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Huron Boys Golf Team. 

7.  New scholarship for Seniors: 
Lawntrepreneur Scholarship - LawnStarter has launched a scholarship geared toward students planning to pursue a post-secondary education in ALL majors that are passionate about entrepreneurship. More information can be found on Naviance and by visiting https://www.lawnstarter.com/scholarship.

Attention all Seniors with a December 1st college application deadline:  All College Tracking Forms need to be turned into Guidance by FridayNovember 18th.

9.  The following colleges will be visiting this month and sign-ups are available in the Guidance Office:

Nov. 16th at 9:00 a.m. - Youngstown State University

Nov. 21st at 9:00 a.m. - Ohio Northern University (Pharmacy Program)
Are you interested in a career in pharmacy or would you like to learn more about it? An informational presentation and question and answer session will be held Monday, November 21st. Come learn about the 0-6 pharmacy program at Ohio Northern University from current students and how you can start preparing now. Lily Justus, a HHS graduate, will be leading the presentation.

10.  Attention all students who are looking for a leadership opportunity to work on the Youth Coalition for Partners for Prevention for Erie County which aims at preventing substance abuse and other high risk activities among youth and adults in Erie County: Applications are available from Mrs. Smith in the Guidance Office and are due back to Mrs. Smith by the morning of Nov. 18th.  
Youth representatives will help develop tactics, policies, and provide information to affect environmental change and reduce substance use among Erie County youth. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and take the lead in changing our community to be a safer and healthier place.
