HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - THURSDAY, MAY 11, 2017

1.  Last night was a great night for Huron track.  A few exciting highlights: For the girls team Macie Majoy is the champion in long jump.  The 4x800 team of Jenna Burrier, Sarah Neibler, Grace Moser and Cassie Currence also got first place!  Kaylia Black got 3rd in shot put.  And many other qualified for finals.

The boys 4x800 team of Ronnie Brandal, Nathan Pack, Will Steuk and Casey VanCauwenbergh are the SBC champs and also broke the school record!

2. 
Attention top ten percent! - Please return the yearbook questionnaire and picture to Mrs. Lee before you leave on Friday!

3.  There will be a meeting for boys golf today in the cafeteria right after school.

4.  Attention all SPARK members: Please remember stop by the counseling office to sign a thank you card today.
 
5.  Huron Interact is now accepting new members.  Interact is a club that organizes projects to better the school, community, and nation.  Applications are available in the office and are due Monday, May 15th.

6.  The West Huron Youth Club invites you to their thirteenth annual "Day in the Outdoors" on Saturday, June 17, from 11am - 3pm.  This takes place at Joe Steinen Wildlife Area on Cleveland Road West in Huron.  The event is open to the public and there is NO admission fee for youth or adults.  See the flyer located outside the high school office for more info.

Attention all students: EHOVE Summer School applications are available in the Counseling Office if you are interested in taking a credit recovery course in Math.  Please pick up an application if you are interested.

8.  Attention Seniors:  If you have any questions or are unsure if you received a scholarship or merit invitation, please see Mrs. Smith in the HHS Counseling office.

Attention Seniors:  Pictures with your college t-shirts has been rescheduled for Monday, May 15th in the gym, immediately following the morning announcements.

10.  Fisher-Titus Medical Center’s Autism Spectrum Kids (ASK) Program and Pediatric Therapy Department are looking for committed high school volunteers to help with our annual summer programs for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Volunteers are critical to the success of our program.  If you are interested there is a handout in the high school office with the full list of programs, dates, and times that we need volunteers for. 

11.  All Seniors please go to Bennett's Screen Printing this week to order a senior shirt.  They are $15 and need to be ordered and picked up by May 22nd.  Know what quote you want on the shirt (school appropriate) before you go and be ready to pay when you order.

12.  BGSU Firelands students are reminded to turn your course books into the book store at Firelands College.  Whatever books the college does not take back - those need to be turned in to the high school office.

Seniors are reminded to turn in their rules and regulations papers into the high school office. 

14.  Attention any student interested in being a member of the Academic Challenge team next year.  Stop by and pick up an application packet from Mr. Blevins.   All materials are due back to him by Friday, May 12th

15.  Attention students and staff who haven't already ordered a 2016-2017 yearbook. The deadline to order a yearbook is Friday, May 19. Either order one online by visiting jostensyearbooks.com, or bring a check in to Mrs. Lee, made out to Huron High School, for $65.

16.  Powder Puff sign-ups are taking place today through the 12th during lunch.  T-shirt order forms are available, due with money by the 12th.  Order forms can be turned into Taylor Gies or the office.  Entry into the game will consist of a canned food item for Victory Kitchen.  The game is on Friday, May 19th at 6pm.  Even if you are not participating, please come out for support!

17.  Lunch today is a buffalo chicken wrap. 
With the end of yet another great school year fast approaching, starting Monday May 15th the cafeteria will no longer allow charging. Please be sure you either have money on your account or in hand when purchasing items from the cafeteria. Mrs. Rich will be happy to inform you of your balance if you need. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to serve you this year.
