HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - THURSDAY, 10/26/17

1.  The Student Union will be closed 2nd and 3rd period today.  Students should report directly to Study Hall instead.

2.  Today
the TLC class will be collecting money to fund raise for their anti-bullying campaign.  At lunch, there will be jars that you can put money into to make your teachers follow through with the dare listed on the jar.  See a TLC member with questions.


3.  Reminder to students that Quarter 1 ends this Friday, October 27.  Please check your grades and be sure to discuss any questions with your teacher.

Starting Monday, the grade with the most people here each day will earn a tiger paw on Mrs. Bengele's window.  The class with the most paws wins a celebration!  
4.  Starting Monday, students will electronically sign up in the Tiger Union.

5.  Presale tickets for Friday's football game at Edison are on sale in the high school office.  Presale is $5.

6. 
Attention all CCP students who signed up for an advising appointment on Oct. 30th:  Please come to your appointment with some classes that you are interested in taking for the Spring semester.  Please add those classes to your shopping cart on your mybgsu account.  You will receive a pass prior to your appointment in the Tiger Union.

7.  There will be a meeting for anyone interested in trying out for softball on Monday, 10/30, in the high school cafeteria after school.

8.   Cedar Point will be here during lunches on Thursday, November 2nd, looking to recruit students who are interested in working at Castaway Bay or Quaker Steak & Lube.

9.  There will be a short meeting for any boys in grades 9-12 interested in playing boys basketball this year.  The meeting will be in Coach Schaefer's room (207) after school on Tuesday, October 31st.

10.  Community service opportunities: 

On Thursday, October 26th, Admirals Pointe will be having their Annual Trick or Treat & Haunted House.  Volunteers are needed to help with candy, games, refreshments.  If you need community service hours please contact Lisa Hudson @ 419-433-4990.  Leave message on voicemail.  Please plan on staying from 6:00pm until 8:30pm.


Mrs Krupp at Shawnee School is still looking for two students to take recycling paper, bottles,cans, etc to their dumpster, twice a week.  Please see Mr. Kucbel, principal, at Shawnee school if interested.

Attention Students looking to earn community service hours:  Woodlands Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help shelve books in the library.  If interested, please call the Woodlands office at 419-433-1234, ext 3000.

Attention any student interested in joining S.P.A.R.K. which stands for Students Preventing Abuse & Raising Knowledge - applications are available in the Counseling Office.  This organization is a youth coalition that has a mission to reduce the number of Erie County youth and adults who are involved in substance abuse and other high risk activities. 

12.   The Elks Student of the Month scholarship applications are available in the Guidance office for seniors.  If selected as a student of the month, you will not only be entered into the local scholarship competition but also have your bio in the Sandusky Register and be invited to a scholarship dinner in May.

13.  High school cheer tryouts will be held at Woodlands on Monday, October 30th through Wednesday, November 1st.  Please pick up the tryout packet in the high school office.  All paperwork must be completed and turned in the first day of tryouts.

14. On Saturday, October 28,  St. Peter School is hosting the 3rd annual Spooktacular 5K and Kids Pumpkin Fun Run.  All runners and walkers are welcome.  Costumes are encouraged.  There will be lots of food and prizes after the race.  Please pick up a registration form in the Huron High School office or register online through October 10 to be guaranteed a race shirt.
15.  The following colleges/universities will be visiting Huron High School. If you would like to meet with their representative - you must sign up through Naviance.
