Announcements - Wednesday, 4/24/19

1. Today Huron High School is operating on a 2-hour delay for American History and Government end of course exams.  This means all sophomores and juniors are required to be here unless they have taken a BG Government class.  Students must arrive to the test on time.  Students will not be allowed to enter the testing room late.  Busses will run at normal times.  Students arriving before 9:25 will be asked to wait in the cafeteria and the gym.

  There is a meeting in Mr. Wood's room after school today (Wednesday) for any girl planning on trying out for volleyball next fall.  If you cannot attend you must see Coach Wood asap.

3.  Any student under the age of 18 who is seeking employment will need to have a work permit filled out and signed by their parent.  These are located outside the high school office.  Please note that there is a place to be filled out by a physician UNLESS you have a valid physical on file in the office.  Please see Mrs. Enderle with any questions.  

4.  GIRLS BASKETBALL:  There will be a brief mandatory meeting right after school this Friday in room 207 for any girl interested in playing basketball next season.  See Coach Lobsinger if you have any questions

5Student Body President and Student Body Vice President petitions are available in the high school office.  Qualified applicants must be a senior for 2019-20 school year and have been a member of student council for at least one year. The deadline is Tuesday, April 30th.

  Students currently in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in YES, a 4-day 3-night service retreat June 5-8, in which students paint houses for families in need in Huron and Sandusky. Cost is $50. The registration deadline is May 13th. Registration forms are available in the high school office.

Attention new inductees of National Honor Society:  Your first meeting with the group will be this Monday, April 29th in the Union after school. Any questions? See Mrs. Arambula.

8.  All Seniors who applied for the Sandusky Elks Student of the Month you are invited to their annual dinner Tuesday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m., where two scholarship awards will be announced.  Student tickets are free and additional tickets are $8.00 each. Checks need to be made out to the Sandusky Elks. Please see Mrs. Smith in the counseling office for tickets.

9.  Attention students planning on taking the UF Anatomy & Physiology class next year:  You need to apply to the University of Findlay (CCP application), make sure you have taken the Accuplacer, and turn your results along with the UF course recommendation sheet to Mrs. Smith as soon as possible.

  Do you want to make some changes in your community? The next Teen Library Council meeting at the Huron Public Library is April, 26 at 3 pm. If you are in 7th through 12th grade, and you have great ideas to share, join this group that meets monthly to discuss materials, programs, and new ideas for teens at the Library!

If you're just trying to read a book instead - you can do that at the Library too! The HPL has book groups for every age and grade level. Check out our website at huronlibrary.org for more information or stop by the Library and speak to a librarian today!


11. Attention Seniors - you now have 2 graduation requirements in Naviance: You must complete the HHS Alumni Questionnaire Task that has been assigned on your Naviance Homepage in addition to the Senior Survey which can be found when you click on: About Me> My Surveys > Surveys Not Started.  Please complete these as soon as possible.


12.  Seniors the voting for Senior Superlatives ends Friday, April 26th.  Please log on to your Huron Students Gmail Account.  You will see one email from Corinne Steuk and one from Emma Golling,  There is a Google Form Survey in each email.  Complete BOTH surveys; one is for girls' superlatives and one for boys' superlatives.  There are senior class lists in the office that you may take while you complete the surveys.  Please return them to the office when you are finished.  Complete BOTH surveys by Friday, April 26.

13.  The Kalahari After Prom party 50/50 jackpot is now at $1150.  One lucky winner will take home $575 and the other $575 will be applied to the cost of the Waterpark tickets.

We encourage all juniors and seniors to keep selling their portion of 50/50 tickets through May 3rd to continue to lower the After Prom ticket cost.  It will be a night full of fun and prize give aways!

Turn in all sold tickets and money to the high school office along with any unsold tickets.  Don't forget.....your name will be entered into a weekly $25 gift card drawing for every 6 tickets you sell.  The person who sells the most tickets will win a $50 gift card of their choice. 
 
14.  Reminder to students who are planning to take CCP classes for the first time - If you have not already taken the Accuplacer test, call Firelands College at (419) 372-0886 to schedule as soon as possible. Please turn in your Accuplacer test results to Mrs. Smith.

Reminder to students enrolling in CCP online or on campus classes - please print out your schedule and turn it in to the counseling office.


15.  Lunch today is bosco pizza sticks or a pizza calzone.
