HURON HIGH SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2015

1.  Congratulations to the entire Model United Nations club for its success in Columbus this weekend.  The nation of Portugal, made up of Keaton Balduff, Christopher Eirons, Nathan Hoty, Meredith Mast, Tyler Sasala, Kevin Stapanian, Noah Stevens, Nick Swope, and Shane Thatcher won individual medals and a team Trophy for Outstanding Resolution.  Cassandra Dircks won a trophy for winning the World Problem Solving Contest.  Molly Lehrer and Tyler Sasala won Outstanding Leader medals.  Finally, Molly Lehrer and Melissa Wirtz won their elections and will serve as state officers of next year's 2016 OMUN Conference.  Bravo to everyone!


2.  This is a reminder to all CCP Participants taking classes on the BGSU Firelands campus or on-line:

You must return all textbooks, including work books, CD’s etc., to the BGSU Firelands bookstore located on the 1st floor of Foundation Hall no later than 5:00 pm on the last day of finals(December 18th)!

1.      Bring ID and identify yourself as a CCP participant.

2.      Do not accept money for the books.

3.      NO EXCEPTIONS!

Your high school may charge full retail price plus tax for any materials not returned by the December 18th deadline. The charges must be paid to your school district.

Books can be returned the week of:

December 14th – December 18th

Spring 2016 Books

Book Vouchers for the Spring 2016 Semester will be available for pick-up starting Monday, January 4th. Please check your BGSU email for more information in the upcoming weeks.

3.  TLC's Senior Safe Shopping trip to Walmart has been cancelled for today.  In its place, TLC will do their regularly scheduled Big Brother/Big Sister trip to Shawnee. 

4.  There will be a meeting right after school today for girls indoor track.  Please meet in the cafeteria.

  The Army National Guard will be visiting today during lunch.  Stop by their table if you are interested.
6.  The Creative Collage series at the Huron Public Library begins tonight at 6 pm. This month's project will be a collage notebook. Registration is required.

The Huron Public Library Teen Library Council will have a holiday party this Friday, December 11, at 2:45 pm. Members are reminded that this is an "ugly holiday sweater"- wearing, white elephant gift exchange.

7Reminder to all Juniors:  2nd payment for the Junior Class Trip is due Tuesday, December 15.

The 6th period Spanish class is doing a donation for the Erie County Humane Society, a charity which is often overlooked.  One of the things needed is newspapers.  There is a box in Mrs. Arambula's room labeled for the Humane Society if you could please remember to drop your leftover papers in there at the end of the day.

9.  TLC will be hosting "Operation Troops" all of this week. The goal is to bring in basic necessities and snacks such as hard candy, gum, crackers, granola bars, beef jerky, cards/card games/ journals, pens, toiletries, pocket kleenex, chapstick and hand warmers.  Bring items to your first period class.  The first period with the most items will win fresh baked cookies and hot cocoa.  All proceeds go to help the troops. All donations would be appreciated!

Seniors, Jostens will be back for one final time to take orders for graduation supplies (caps & gowns, announcements, etc) on Thursday, December 10, during lunches.  You should be receiving a post card in the mail from Jostens if you have not yet placed an order.

11.  Attention all sophomores or juniors interested in attending EHOVE next year.  The application period is going on now!  If you are considering, please go to www.EHOVE.net and click on "now it is time to apply" and fill out the quick application.  Mrs. Fahr will send over your transcript at the end of the semester to complete your file.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Fahr in the Guidance office.

12.  The Huron ski club will have a meeting on Friday, December 11, in the high school cafeteria immediately after school.  Information packets are in the office.  Please bring parent/guardian form to the meeting.  Parents are welcome to attend.  Contact Julie Parell with any questions.

13.  Huron Rotary would like to meet our Seniors at their luncheons on Tuesdays.  If you would like to attend, please pick up a form in the high school office.  Once the form is completed and turned back into the office we will schedule a time for you to go.  Please ask a friend to partner up with you as we like to send a couple at a time.

14.  Lunch today is a meatball sub or a toasted pizza sub.
