ANNOUNCEMENTS - MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2016
1. Congratulations to the girls cross country team for their 2nd place finish in the SBC championship meet on Sat. Grace Moser was the SBC champion running a sophomore record time of 19:29
Joining
Grace as first team all SBC was Cassie Currence who finished in 5th
place. Sarah Neibler made the 2nd team all SBC in13th place.
The
boys cross country team placed 3rd in the conference meet with Nathan
Pack the top Huron finisher in 6th place. Nathan earned first team all
SBC. Ronnie Brandal and Casey VanCauwenbergh both finished second team
all SBC in 12th and 13th place.
2. Attention all cross country runners, there is a mandatory meeting in Mr. Blevins' room tomorrow
after school. For those who are finished racing, please bring your
washed uniform in a bag labeled with your name to turn in. The meeting
begins at 2:45 p.m.
3. On
Tuesday, October 18th, at 6:30pm at McCormick School auditorium there
will be a "Meet the Candidates" night. Local candidates running for
office have been invited.
4. The Teen Library Council at the Huron Public Library will have an after-hours Halloween Party on Saturday, October 22 from 7 pm - midnight. Members are asked to pick up a permission slip before the event. Costumes are mandatory. Everyone is asked to bring
candy and a midnight breakfast item to share. Questions? Contact Ms Carol.

Students are reminded to sign up ahead of time in the Guidance Office.
6. Senior scholarship - BGSU Science and Math Education in ACTION - Incoming freshman
considering teaching either secondary science or math OR middle
childhood science and math with a minimum 3.0 GPA, recommended minimum
ACT of 23 are eligible. To apply online visit www.bgsu.edu/action DEADLINE TO APPLY IS JANUARY 15, 2017.
7. The American Legion's Americanism & Government Test will be given here at Huron High School during 6th and 7th periods on Friday, October 21. Interested students should see Mrs. Merckens to sign up and get a helpful study guide.
9. Seniors: The "Elks Student of the Month" applications are available in the Guidance office. If selected as a student of the month, you will not only be entered into the local scholarship competition but also have your bio in the Sandusky
Register and be invited to a scholarship dinner in May. There are
numerous scholarship opportunities available so don't hesitate to apply!Applications are due by Monday, October 31st.
10. Attention all students who take plan on taking a College Credit Plus course online or at Firelands this Spring: You must sign up for a 15 minute time slot in Guidance to meet with Sophia Jackson or Amy Planthaber.
Once you have your meeting and credit check, a hold will be removed
from your account. Seniors will meet on with Mrs. Fahr and BG advisors
on Friday 10/28 and Juniors and underclassman will meet on Monday 10/31.
