Message to High School Parents and Families

Thursday, March 8, 2018

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members:

Earlier today a Huron High School student discovered graffiti on a desk, referencing an act of school violence on Saturday March 10th. The high school administration immediately contacted the Huron Police Department and began reviewing the situation. The administration will continue interviewing students and staff as we work to identify those responsible for the graffiti.

In collaboration with the Huron PD, we determined our immediate next steps are to have an officer in the building throughout the day while we continue to investigate this matter.  The police department agreed to have additional officers patrol the area around the high school and conduct walk-throughs in each of our buildings. At this time, no decision has been made regarding Saturdays Winter Formal dance.

If you have any questions, please contact the high school office at 419-433-1234 extension 1002 or my office, (419)-433-1234 extension 5000.

Sincerely,

Dennis Muratori
Superintendent
